Author of over 50 published books (and still going strong), Cynthia MacGregor writes on many subjects, but the majority of her books are aimed either at parents or at kids. Some of her books tackle "difficult" topics, such as two books written for kids that explain divorce and one that deals with stepfamilies, one for little kids that explains death, and another for little kids that explain's Mom's new pregnancy. But she also writes on happier subjects, as in The "I Love You" Book, and with a sense of humor when it's called for, as in What Do You Know About Manners? Cynthia's play for kids, King Theo What's-His-Name and Joey, was produced in New York in the early '90s. Her past includes stints as a theatre reviewer, publisher of an all-advertising newspaper, and editor of an entertainment-oriented newspaper. In fact, she is still actively editing as well as writing. Cynthia has no plans to retire... ever... despite the fact that the former New Yorker has lived in South Florida, often thought of as a retirement haven, since 1984. "I love my work!" she says. "There's nothing I'd rather be doing." An inveterate punster (practitioner of wordplay), she travels annually to Austin TX to compete in the O. Henry Pun-Off World Championships, where she once took second prize and in '06 will be a judge instead of a contestant. At a banquet the night before the '06 Pun-Off, she will be honored by the International Save the Pun Foundation as Punster of the Year. Her hobbies are wordplay, writing haiku (a form of poetry), and cooking. Cynthia publishes a weekly eclectic EZine called EZine Does It, which is free.
