Lawrence Charles Parish, M.D.

Dr. Lawrence Charles Parish is Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he is also Director of the Jefferson Center for International Dermatology.

Dr. Parish attended the University of Michigan and received his BA degree from the University of Pennsylvania, following which he matriculated at the Tufts University School of Medicine, earning his MD degree in 1963. He interned at the Philadelphia General Hospital and took his residency training in dermatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After serving in the United States Army as Chief of Dermatology at the 121 Evacuation Hospital in Seoul, Korea and the Walson Army Hospital in Fort Dix, New Jersey, he entered the private practice of dermatology in Philadelphia. In 2002, his daughter, Dr. Jennifer L. Parish, joined Parish Dermatology.

He is the author of over 400 scientific papers and has written or edited over two dozen books, including the Textbook of Pediatric Dermatology which was also translated into Spanish. Dr. Parish is currently Editor-in-Chief of Clinics in Dermatology and SKINmed. He holds academic appointments at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine; Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana; Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea; and Zagazig University College of Medicine, Zagazig, Egypt. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Dermatologic Association and a fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Currently, he is president of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology and the History of Dermatology Society. Dr. Parish is an honorary or corresponding member of several societies, including the British Association of Dermatologists, the Israeli society of Dermatology and Venereology, and the Italian Society of Dermatology and Venereology.
