Recall: October 27, 2009. Louis Hornick & Co. has recalled approximately 364,000 Roman shades because a child can place his or her head between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind, or a child can pull the cord and wrap it around his/her neck, posing a strangulation or entanglement hazard. There have been two reports of young children becoming entangled in the inner cord of the Roman shade.

The recall involves all sizes and colors of Dublin Energy Solution Roman Shades sold by Bed Bath & Beyond with exposed inner cords on the back. The recalled colors are navy, chocolate, khaki and a cream. A small orange, black and white warning label sticker in English and Spanish reads in part: 'Cords and bead chains can loop around a child's neck and STRANGLE...'

The recalled Roman shades were sold in Bed Bath & Beyond stores nationwide and on their website www.bedbathbeyond.com from August 2007 through September 2009 for $40-$130.

What to do: Stop using the recalled Roman shade and contact Louis Hornick & Co. to receive a free repair kit, which will be available by the end of November 2009.

Contact: Louis Hornick & Company toll-free at (800) 517-3612 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET daily or www.hornickindustries.com
