Recall: November 5, 2009. Adventure Playsets has recalled approximately 275,000 wooden play sets because the plastic-coated lumber on the horizontal ladder (monkey bar/swing beam) can weaken over time due to the rotting wood (spruce, pine and fir), resulting in a fall hazard. There have been more than 1,400 reports of rotting ladders, including 16 injuries that resulted in visits to the emergency room.
The recall involves wooden play sets with swings, slides and ladders that have an overhead monkey bar ladder that acts as the monkey bar and swing beam, and an end ladder coated with cranberry or green plastic. The instruction manual is printed with 'Adventure Playsets' and one of the following model numbers is on the cover:

Bellevue 1-AP048, and 1-AP012

Please note that the Bellevue, Tacoma and Durango swing sets were previously recalled due to detaching frames.
The recalled wooden play sets were sold in Walmart, Toys R Us, Academy Sports, Menards and Mills stores nationwide, and online at www.walmart.com, www.toysrus.com and www.willygoat.com, and through the DMSI catalog, from January 2004 through December 2007 for $300-$600.
What to do: Stop using the recalled play set immediately and contact Adventure Playsets for a free replacement kit.
