Recall: September 17, 2009. Clarks® has recalled approximately 2,000 First Shoes because rubber pieces of the sole can detach and pose a choking hazard. There have been no incidents in the U.S. but there were six reports in the United Kingdomof the rubber pieces detaching, including two reports of children mouthing the pieces.

The recall involves four styles of 'crawlers' and one 'hazy daze' style of Clarks' First Shoes that were sold in sizes infant 2-3.5 (crawlers) and infant 4-6.5 (hazy daze). The following shoes were recalled:

Little Kyle Blue Crawler, model 89823 (blue with red and black trim)
Little Kyle Tan Crawler, model 89824 (tan with blue and brown trim)
India Sparkle White Crawler, model 88000 (white with light green trim and pink stitching)
Kristin Baby Pink Crawler, model 88109 (light pink with darker pink trim)
Hazy Daze White Sandal, model 88234 (white leather with cream and tan trim)

The recalled shoes were sold in Clarke® stores nationwide from February 2009 through July 2009 for $35-$40.

What to do: Take the recalled shoes away from a child and return to Clarks® store for a refund.
