Recall: July 23, 2009. LeapFrog has recalled approximately 3,700 My Pal Scout electronic toy dogs because the heat transfer decals on the paws can be removed and ingested by a child, posting a choking hazard. There have been at least two reports of children removing the decal, including one child who ingested part of the decal.

The recall involves My Pal Scout, a green and beige electronic plush dog with plastic decals on the paws. 'Scout' is printed on the dog tag at the neck. 'LeapFrog Ent. Item No. 19142' is printed on the white tag attached to the toy and on the packaging. The toys sold by Toys 'R' Us has item #569146. My Pal Scout toy dogs with embroidered paws are not affected by this recall.

The recalled toys were sold nationwide in Toys 'R' Us stores and on the Toys 'R' Us website, on the leapfrog website, and other retail websites from May 2009 through June 2009 for $20.

What to do: Take the recalled toy away from a child and contact LeapFrog for a replacement My Pal Scout that has embroidered paws.
