Product: Babi Italia 'Pinehurst' and Bonavita 'Hudson' Drop-Side Cribs Importer: LaJobi Inc., of Cranbury, NJ Recall: June 9, 2009. LaJobi has recalled 2,950 Pinehurst and Hudson drop cribs because the lower spring pins on the footboard and headboard can pop out of the track on the drop side, causing the drop side to detach from the crib thereby posing an entrapment, suffocation or fall hazard. There have been at least 33 reports of the spring pin failure resulting in drop-side detachment. In two cases, the child was entrapped, and in a third case the child fell from the crib, but there were no serious injuries. The recalled cribs are the Pinehurst (sold under the Babi Italia brand) and Hudson (sold under Bonavita brand) drop-side cribs with metal mattress supports. The Hudson has a slide-out drawer under the crib. They were sold in cherry, espresso, natural and white wood finishes. Recalled cribs have production dates of December 2006 through August 2007. The production date, product order number, item number and color are printed on a label attached to the headboard or footboard. The Pinehurst cribs were sold exclusively at Babies R Us and the Hudson cribs were sold at Baby Basics, Beautiful Beginnings and Buy Buy Baby stores, and other children's product stores, nationwide for $300. Both cribs were sold from December 2006 through December 2007. What to do: Stop using the recalled crib immediately and find an alternate safe sleeping area for the baby. Contact LaJobi for a free in-home inspection and installation of retrofit hardware. Contact: Lajobi toll-free at (866) 688-9009 anytime or online www.lajobi.com |
