Recall: June9, 2009. LaJobi has recalled 2,005 'Cabana' drop-side cribs because the wooden crib slats can detach or break, creating a gap that can entrap or strangle a child. There have been at least 16 reports of crib slat failure (10 reports of slats falling out and 6 reports of slate breaking). There have been no injuries reported.

The recalled crib is the 'Cabana' drop-side crib with metal mattress support that were sold in antique white, classic cherry and montego brown. under the company name Bonavita. Only cribs that were manufactured between January 2006 and October 2008 with production codes between 01 JAN 2006 and 31 OCT 2008 are affected by this recall. Other production dates are not affected. The model name, product order (PO) number and production date are on a label on the inside bottom rail of the headboard or footboard. The recalled cribs were sold at USA Baby, Beautiful Beginnings, Buy Buy Baby and other specialty juvenile stores nationwide from January 2006 through May 2009 for $450.

What to do: Stop using the crib immediately and find an alternate safe sleeping place for the baby. Contact LaJobi for free replacement side rails.
