Product: Children's Knitted Hats Manufacturer: Ambler Mountain Works, of Canmore, Alberta, Canada Recall: May 5, 2009. Ambler Mountain Works has recalled approximately 370 children's knitted hats because some parts can detach and pose a choking hazard. There has been one incident of a felt octopus leg detaching, but no injuries. The recalled items are the Erwin Beanie and Poseidon Beanie, both knitted hats. The eyeballs on the Erwin Beanie and the octopus legs on the Poseidon Beanie can come loose. The Erwin Beanie comes in several different colors, each with white and black knitted eyes that could detach. The Poseidon Beanie also comes in different colors, each with hand-sewn turles, whales and an octopus. Both beanie styles have 'Ambler' or 'A' printed on fabric tag. Recalled beanies were sold in specialty sports and ski shops nationwide from September 2008 through November 2008 for $30. What to do: Stop using the recalled beanie and return to Ambler Mountain Works for a free replacement. Or, keep the beanie and cut off the frog's eyes and octopus' legs and dispose of them. Contact: Ambler at (888) 267-6968 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT Monday to Friday, or www.amblermw.com or Email Ambler |
