Product: Eddie Bauer Soothe and Sway Portable Play Yard Distributor: Dorel Juvenile Group Inc., of Columbus, IN Recall: May 13, 2009. Dorel has recalled approximately 71,000 Eddie Bauer Soothe & Sway Play Yards because the rocking bassinet attachment can tilt—even when secured by straps in the non-rocking mode—or remain tilted without returning to level sleeping surface while in rocking mode, which poses a suffocation hazard if the infant rolls to the corner or side and becomes wedged. There have been at least 10 reports of infants rolling to the side, including six infants that had their face pressed against the side. The recall involves the Eddie Bauer Soothe & Sway play yard that has a rocking bassinet, flip & store changing station, 10 soothing songs and sounds, 2-speed vibration, nightlight and mobile. The recalled models are 05046 (all units) and 05044 (manufactured before December 1, 2008). Different models were sold in Canada. The model number and manufacture date are found on a sticker on one of the support legs under the play yard. The recalled play yards were sold in Target, Sears and Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide, as well as by online retailers, from January 2008 through May 2009 for $150. What to do: Stop using the bassinet feature of the play yard and contact Dorel for a $40 voucher toward another Dorel product. Consumers may continue to use the other features of the play yard. Contact: Dorel Juvenile Group toll-free at (888) 233-4903 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST Monday through Friday |
