Recall: June 26, 2008. Westminster has recalled approximately 102,000 Thunder Wolf RC indoor helicopters because the rechargeable battery can overheat and melt the plastic body of the helicopter, posing a burn and fire hazard to the user and nearby property. Westminster has received at least seven reports of the helicopter overheating or melting, including one report of flames and two reports of minor property damage. Only helicopters that do not have MADE IN CHINA stamped on the bottom of the helicopter body are subject to this recall. The recalled helicopters measure 7 inches x 3 inches and are made of plastic and foam. They have 'TW0996' printed on the tail and were sold in various colors with a separate controller. The recalled helicopters were sold nationwide from June 2007 through December 2007 for $20.
What to do: Stop using the helicopter immediately and contact Westminster for a refund. Do not contact the retailer where you purchased the helicopter.
