Product: Simmons Kids Crib Mattress Manfuacturer: Simmons Kids, a division of The Simmons Manufacturing Co., LLC of Atlanta, GA Recall: June 5, 2008. Simmons Kids has recalled approximately 20,000 crib mattresses because they measure narrower than the 27 and 1/4 -inch width minimum requirement for crib mattresses and pose an entrapment hazard when placed in a crib. There was one report of a 6-month-old that became wedged between the mattress and the crib frame but was not injured. The recalled crib mattresses were open coil mattresses that were manufactured between July 1, 2006 and March 23, 2008 with a color label attached with one of the following model names (the law tag will have the model number that is shown in parenthesis): Pottery Barn Kids by Simmons Kids Lullaby (H59044.15.0014) Simmons Kids Slumber Time Evening Star Luxury Firm (M59082.15.0002) Simmons Kids Baby Mattress Series 400 (M59027.15.0002) Simmons Kids Baby Mattress 234 Coil Count (M59065.15.0006) Pocketed Coils® and Simmons Kids or Simmons Juvenile Products crib mattresses manufactured before July 1, 2006 or after March 23, 2008 are not included in the recall. The recalled crib mattresses were sold by Pottery Barn Kids and an nursery furniture retailers between July 2006 and May 2008 for $100-$150. What to do: Take all coverings off your crib mattress, place mattress on floor, and measure the width of the mattress from one tape edge to the other (measure at the middle of the mattress, not near the ends).
