Product: Lithium-Polymer Batteries and Lithium-polymer Battery Chargers Distributor/Retailer: Hobby-Lobby International Inc., of Brentwood, TN Manufacturer: Art-Tech R/C Hobby Co., Ltd. of Shenzhen, China Recall: April 14, 2008. Hobby-Lobby has recalled approximately 3,200 lithium-polymer (LiPoly) batteries and battery chargers because the batteries can ignite and pose a burn hazard to the user. There have been at least three reports of injuries, including one where the user's hand was severely burned when a battery ignited. The recalled LiPoly batteries and LiPoly battery chargers were sold with the AT600 Falcon helicopter kit, and as spare batteries (AT600B) and spare battery chargers (ATS6046). The Falcon helicopter kit was sold online at www.hobby-lobby.com between April 2006 and July 2007 for $300. The spare LiPoly chargers were sold for $15 and the spare LiPoly batteries were sold for $46. What to do:: Stop using the recalled battery or battery charger immediately. Consumers who registered their kits should have been contacted by Hobby-Lobby and will receive a new battery and smart charger. Contact the firm if you purchased the kit or parts and have not heard from Hobby-Lobby about the recall.
