Product: Toshiba AC Adapters Sold with Portable DVD Players Distributor: Toshiba America Consumer Products LLC, of Wayne, N.J. Recall: October 9, 2007. Toshiba has recalled approximately 142,000 AC adapters that were sold with portable DVD players because the adapters can fail, cause the DVD player to overheat, and pose a burn hazard to consumers, including children. Toshiba received two reports of overheating and minor damage to DVD players but no injuries. The recalled AC adapter was sold with DVD player model number SD-P1600. "Toshiba" and "ADPV16" are printed on the adapter. The recalled adapters were sold with the DVD players in consumer electronics stores nationwide from January 2005 through April 2006 for $200-$230. What to do: Stop using the adapter and contact Toshiba for a replacement adapter. Do not use the DVD player until you receive the new adapter.
