A recent study of school-aged children in Montreal found that 1.5% were allergic to peanuts. Previous studies from the Isle of Wight found a much lower rate - 0.5%. One reason for the difference is the less homogenous population in Montreal. "We don't know why prevalence has gone up, but it has for all allergies," said Rhonda Kagan, MD, lead researcher.
